Spiritual Care

One of the pillars that guides our work is empowerment and one of the ways we aim to empower our clients and staff is spiritually. We desire to see our children and their families growing spiritually and getting to experience God’s love and realizing their God-given potential. We also journey with our staff to nurture them spiritually, for them to understand their place in God's kingdom as they also serve and empower our clients.

We do this in various ways, through events and also in our daily programs as shown below;

a. Christian Education for Children:

Spiritual empowerment like other services is core to the growth and nourishment of our clients. We therefore teach them the word of God, bringing it to them in the simplest ways possible. We use visual aids, songs and skits, to pass the message to them and emphasize the same message during class activities using art and video plays. Children also participate in bringing to life certain characters and this helps to keep the message in their minds and their hearts.

b. Family Fellowship

This is a fellowship that is normally comprised of the caregivers and family members of our clients. Every week a number of the caregivers accompany their children as they come for therapy. As the children are going on with the classes, the caregivers meet for this fellowship where they get to hear and study God’s Word together. The ministry pastor comes once per week to minister God’s Word and for other days, the chaplain coordinates the meet ups. The goal is for them to hear and know the Gospel, continue growing spiritually and know how to approach different situations in their lives with a Biblical perspective and being encouraged to live Gospel-shaped lives.

c.  Joint Service

This is a service that currently happens three times a year where we gather with our clients, their families, churches, friends and partners to worship God together as God’s big family and community. The service is normally customized in a way that our clients get to participate and serve God with their gifts. They also get to hear God’s word simplified to their level of understanding. The goal for this service is to encourage inclusive worship in our society as well to promote spiritual growth and communal worship for our clients and their families as we serve them here at The Garden of Siloam.

d.   Staff Service

Our staff service happens every Tuesday at 7.30-8.00am. The service provides an opportunity for the staff members to hear the gospel together as it is the guiding light for our service to our clients. The service has also provided a platform for the staff to serve and utilize their giftings in various areas like singing and teaching.
